When is homework due?
Homework is generally due the day after it is assigned. If this is not the case, it will be noted on the students' Homework Tracker.
What are Friday Folders and when are they due?
Friday Folders are used for communication between school and home. At the end of each week students bring home the work they have completed. Work should be reviewed to enhance student retention of the learned material. Friday Folders come home at the end of each week and need to be returned with a signature at the beginning of the next week.
How often do report cards come home?
Report cards are given at the end of each trimester. The first report card will be given mid November. The second report card will come in early March and the final report card goes home on the last day of school. If you are not here on the last day of school, please make arrangements to get it from the front office.
What if my child is absent?
If your child is absent, please be sure to call the office at 909-594-1467 to provide a reason for the absence. If you would like to pick up the day's assignments please call the office before 9:45 AM so that I may get the assignments prepared for your child.
How do you celebrate the children's birthdays?
On each child's birthday or half birthday, if their birthday falls in the summer, they are given a birthday certificate and pencil. The class and I will sing to them and give them their favorite applause. If you would like to donate a book to our classroom library in honor of their birthday, I will attach a sticker on the inside cover to indicate that it was a birthday donation made in honor of (the student's name) and date donated. If you are planning to send a healthy treat on the day of their birthday, I would appreciate an email or phone call to make sure we make time for the treat.
Why do the students have jobs?
Room 15 is organized the way it is to help the students build responsibility and to understand how a community works. The students each have a job of their own, which they apply for, and are responsible for doing that job for the trimester. Each student is also given the opportunity to be the Classroom Leader and lead the class through various activities for the week. The students learn that they must work together and do their part to make the community work.
